Do you take care of everyone, but yourself? It’s not unusual in these busy and stressful times to don the cape of a super hero. In fact if you reflect on your experience with super heroes from cartoons and film….you never see them doing something for themselves. Really, have you ever seen a super hero relax, meditate or detox?
The point is, it’s easy to lose track of our own needs when we consider others needs as trumping our own. It’s all well and good to be thoughtful and empathetic, but not at the expense of taking care of ourselves. Life is busy and frought with unexpected incidents that require our attention. It’s not hard to get caught up in these demands, because they never cease! However, if you don’t set boundaries on your time, those demands will just continue or even escalate. You will find yourself on an endless journey of doing for others. You will eventually feel drained, tired and no longer connected to your mind, body and soul. This is not good for one’s health and wellbeing.
TAKE OFF THE CAPE
So, you must learn to take time for yourself to TAKE OFF THE CAPE. Make space in a day just for you to be alone and undisturbed by your usual concerns. Take a slow soak in a hot bath with some essential oils and just dream. Go to a park, or the beach and take your shoes off and feel the grass or sand and sun. Feel connected with the energy of the earth. Lie on your back and look at the clouds while you breath deeply and slowly and feel your tensions leave your body. Book a body massage, or even just a foot massage, and let someone else make you feel good while your negative energy disolves in relaxation.
You will feel revitalized and relaxed, once the CAPE IS OFF!
